If you’ve been following my Thai adventures you may well have read my post about Ao Nang and Krabi, in which I raved about my trip to Koh Phi Phi.
Phi Phi is one of the most famous destinations for tourists in Thailand, mainly following the Leo Decaprio movie ‘The Beach’ in 2000, which featured the now infamous Maya Beach. After watching the movie and scouring Pinterest for the most stunning beaches in Thailand and finding Phi Phi pretty unavoidable, I was determined to have Phi Phi on our itinerary, even if it was just for a day trip.
It’s pretty pricey to stay here overnight unless you’re staying in a hostel or low-rated hotel, but you can quite easily get ferries and speedboats here from the mainland (from the likes of Phuket, Ao Nang, etc), as well as the other islands.
The only drawback of getting a transfer boat from Ao Nang to Koh Phi Phi Koh Lanta was the ferry times. The ferries only run about twice a day, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. We arrived at about 10/11am, so we only had about 5 hours to spend there until our 3pm ferry. We had to act super fast in order to see as much of the islands as possible, to make the extra time and money on making the stopover worth it. Continue reading
